Overview & Philosophy

User-Space Binary Management

Lown is an autonomous user-space binary manager designed to solve the complexity of local developer toolchains without requiring administrative sudo privileges or bloated system package managers.

Core Principles

  • Zero Root Privileges: All compiled binaries and managed applications reside strictly inside ~/.lown/bin/ and ~/.lown/apps/.
  • Native Builder Engine: Automatically detects project languages (Go, Rust, Revoq, C/C++) and invokes go build, cargo build --release, or revoq build.
  • Git Synchronization: Track installed tools directly against upstream Git commit SHAs, updating with a single lown sync command.
